9th Annual Alamo City Cancer Council Breast Cancer Update

The Alamo City Cancer Council (ACCC) is sponsoring the 9th Annual Breast Cancer Update on Saturday, October 8th and it will be held at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of medicine. This program was created for provision of current information about breast cancer and breast health and is designed for the lay person, cancer survivor & health provider alike.

This years’ program will address current hot topics including a review about new tests to screen for cancer, use of new tools for decisions about cancer therapy selection in breast cancer, the role of diet and cancer development. There will also be focus discussions about breast cancer in the Hispanic and African American populations-there are unique aspects in both races that appear to influence outcomes in survival of breast cancer patients. There will also be a lecture regarding unique aspects affecting young women diagnosed with breast cancer. There will also be a review of a common breast cancer type referred to as Ductal Cancer in Situ (DCIS).

This program will last about a ½ day and ends up with a lunch discussion of the role of Sugar and its relationship to cancer. This program is FREE to the public.
